Our exhibition guides are present in the exhibitions during regular opening hours. Visitors are invited to approach the guides with questions, talk to them about the exhibitions and exchange perspectives.
We also offer curatorial tours and workshops. The tours and the workshops offered as part of Sunday Art Makers (SAM) are open to anyone interested. We will inform you about the dates on this page, in our newsletter and on Instagram.
As part of this year’s DISLOCATIONS program, there is also a collaboration between Kunst Raum Mitte, the neighboring elementary school on Koppenplatz, and mediator Frank Jimin Hopp.

Sunday Art Makers (SAM)
Your new creative Sunday at the Municipal Galleries Berlin-Mitte
Starting in August, Berlin-Mitte will be bursting with color and creativity! Every first Sunday of the month, you can discover, try out, and participate in contemporary art! The brand-new Sunday Art Makers (SAM) format is launching at the municipal galleries Kunst Raum Mitte, Bärenzwinger, and Galerie Wedding. Together with experienced art educators and creative professionals, children, teenagers, and adults can discover, experience, and help shape contemporary art in new, interactive ways. The formats are organized in collaboration with the Berlin-Mitte Municipal Galleries and the MiK Youth Art School.
The gallery is transformed into a place full of possibilities—a space for imagination, curiosity, and inspiration: Who puts together an exhibition and what happens behind the scenes? Who decides what art is and where does it even begin? Where do the materials in an exhibition come from and how can you actually turn everyday objects into works of art yourself? Whether alone, with friends, or with the whole family, SAM is for everyone who wants to spend their Sunday being creative and active. Instead of the traditional Sunday rest, we focus on imaginative activities: painting, designing, writing, modeling, experiencing, and experimenting. Participants can try out various forms of artistic expression – regardless of their previous knowledge. SAM invites you to discover your own creativity – in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of room for your own ideas. We look forward to seeing you – let’s make some art! – and become a SUNDAY ART MAKER!

From October 22–24, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. each day, the Sunday Art Makers invite you to a creative upcycling workshop: Trashformers takes a look at the waste generated during the exhibition process—from packaging to old posters and flyers—and transforms it into new works of art. Together we ask: How can art be communicated in a sustainable and diverse way?
Here, participants cut, glue, screw, and even “trash”—in an inclusive, creative manner with an eye toward what remains. For children, families, and anyone who wants to rediscover everyday life in the gallery – in a playful, creative, and resource-efficient way. The format is organized in collaboration with the municipal galleries of Berlin-Mitte, the Soldiner Kiez Waste Museum, and the MiK Youth Art School.
