Reading Group: Haunted Potentials I
June 26, 2026: 5:00–6:30 pm
If you are interested in joining the reading group, please register via info@kunstraummitte.berlin.
As part of the annual program DISSOLUTIONS, Haunted Potentials invites participants to two gatherings that take the form of an open reading group, combining artistic research, theory, and collective exchange. DISSOLUTIONS approaches the world as a future that has already passed and turns its attention to processes of dissolution: from state and bodily orders to cosmologies and worldviews, as well as notions of identity and publicness.
Against this backdrop, the sessions focus on two media that play a key role in shaping social orders while also outlasting them: technology and language. As carriers of knowledge, power, memory, and imagination, they continue to operate beyond the systems in which they emerged. In moments of collapse or transformation, they become sites where past futures and alternative possibilities persist.
Which ideas, images, and relations remain effective when the orders we live in have long since become fragile? And what does it mean to work with these remnants of technology and language and collectively renegotiate them as hauntological potentials?
The gatherings are conceived as a collective space for thinking. In advance, texts will be shared to be read together and discussed on site. The reading group is open to anyone interested in artistic research practices, collective reading, and conversations about the afterlives of systems.
Reading for Session 1: Excerpt from Art and Cosmotechnics (2021) by Yuk Hui
The reading and the reading group will take place in English.
Second Session:
17 July 2026: 5:00–6:30 PM
